Because I Heart Plaid!

I am leaving for Scotland in a little more than a month. Why? Well, it could be because a friend I work with asked if I wanted to go on vacation, to which I said, "Yes." Then when she suggested Scotland, I didn't hesitate to say, "Sure." I've bought my ticket, the seats are assigned, and my passport is safely on my dresser (that's for those of you who remember the lost passport issue). We're going to see all the touristy sites, take a ridiculously large amount of pictures, travel by air, bus, taxi, train, bike, and ferry, and possibly even get a little crazy. I'm super excited to see the bridge from Harry Potter. Why Scotland? For all these reasons and more. OR, because I heart the plaid kilts made doable by the Scottish. Take your pick.

It's a Love/Hate Relationship

No, I'm not talking about my job. I'm talking about my recent iphone purchase. I really do heart the iphone. It has some really neat-o features that are just cool pieces of technology. I love that it has the internet and an ipod. I don't love that there is no speed dial. It's annoying to me to have to scroll through names to find my mom each day. It's also super annoying--to the point of me wanting to take it back--that the iphone can't send a regular decent picture through text. I know, I know--all the ads show that it can. In fact, that request was the only one I had when the salesman asked me what kind of phone I was looking for. Surprise was on me when I got home and found out that I couldn't send a picture message regularly. Plus, every time someone sends me a picture, I have to go to a website, enter a 7 digit alpha-numeric code for the username and password, and then I can only view my picture for seven days. LAME. Apparently, ATT (who is the sole provider for the iphone in the US) doesn't support MMS until "late summer" of 2009. Seriously? We've had the iphone for years and this hasn't been supported? Even the bad phones have this ability. Sheesh! It's super, super annoying to me. It's 2009 people!

My Cute Friend Misty

My friend Misty is such lifesaver! I called her up few weeks ago, asking if I could come her way because I was just stressed and needed to get away, and she didn't even hesitate to say yes. So, I drove out to Durango. Misty and I spent the rest of the week and weekend hanging out, working on the farm, me meeting her guy, Tim, shopping, and we even went tubing down the Animas River. I may or may not have thought I was going to drown at one point, but don't worry. I pushed Misty to the edge and then saved myself. :) I sure miss this girl and the fact that she lives 8 long, long hours away! Misty, come visit me! :)

Act Your Age

Tonight I went home for dinner. Every time I am home, Michael always takes my chair at the table! Now, he says that it has been his chair since they moved into the house. I beg to differ because I always sit there! Yes, I am 26 and Mike is 16, but that's not the point!
Tonight, he was standing by the chair, buttering corn on the plate, and I swooped in and sat in the chair. He was dumbfounded! He proceeded to sit on top of me, and I proceeded to reach around and try to exchange his plate for a new one. We got into a laughing/shoving/whining match about why we should get the chair. Mom finally said, "Whoever sits there has to clean the kitchen and do the dishes." We both looked at each other and said with smirks, "I'm not moving." Finally, after about five minutes, I said, "Rock, paper, scissor you for it." Mike said, "Best of three?" and the battle began. Well, I'm sad to say that I lost the chair, but in the end I think I'm the winner because Mike sure had to clean the kitchen and do the dishes. :) I love that brother!

Axton

Kristin and Matthew, this is for you. This is your cute kid after nap time one day. He was laughing at my hand pushing on the outside of the playpen

Also, here is a picture for you to compare with when he was a newborn. Funny, huh.

I've Never Been Happier

Tomorrow is the last day of teaching my current 6th grade class. What a joy they have been. They will leave these doors at 1:15pm. I have never been happier.

Honestly

I truly believe that honesty is the best policy. Trying to hide or keep things from people, especially those close to you, never works out well. It becomes a tangled web of lies, deciet and dishonesty. Why is it so hard to love each other unconditionally and, in turn, just be open and honest. Why do I always feel like I'm at the end of the phone chain--the bottom of the totem pole--the one who shows up only to find the date's been changed. Honestly people!

Yes, this is my rant of frustration, and honestly, I should just call and ask.
